Charmaine demonstrated a natural gift for art at a very early age and won numerous best in show awards for her paintings in oil and watercolor, and was awarded the Bank of America Award for Fine Art while in high school. A fine art major at Cal State University, Los Angeles, Charmaine studied the Rennaissance technique of underpainting and glazing, earning the affectionate nickname "Rembrant" by her painting professor for her ability to produce accurate likenesses of famous paintings, including the Mona Lisa. She has exhibited her art in numerous art shows and art festivals. After marrying, she moved to Portland, Oregon in 1989 and continued her education studying graphic design at the University of Oregon and graduated from their Electronic Publishing Program in 1995. After graduating, she became an Art Director for an activewear apparel firm, a Senior Web Designer at Intel and later an instructional designer creating interactive training for major corporations. |

She has designed and developed award-winning Web sites, interactive applications, animation and produced videos for Intel Corporation, Nike, PGE, Kaiser Permanent and A-dec. Some of the projects she has worked on include the Intel WebOutfitter Service, intel.com, Intranet sites, multimedia applications, videos and Web-based courses. Although her digital art career kept her pretty busy, she always found time to paint landscapes and wildlife in oil and stayed connected with the local art community supporting the arts by serving on the board of directors of the Beaverton Arts Commission and as their past President. She has been active in numerous other arts and educational organizations being a featured guest speaker at local colleges and civic auditoriums. Charmaine's Real Art Studios is a member of the Apple Developer Program and released a mobile app for children, Fish & Sea Creatures ABC's. The app teaches children their ABCs using a storybook format and contains hundreds of animations and interactive objects for children to explore as well as a coloring book, trace letters and numbers, stickers and more. Some of the interactive awards Charmaine received include the Intel Excellence Award for Intranet and Application design, Intel University's Learning at Intel Excellence Award, and several Awards of Excellence for innovative Intranet design. Her work for Nike included the design and development of software training and printed collateral for their Global Finance organizaton deployed through Nike University as well as a video portal for one of their global strategic partners. Charmaine's video production experience includes numerous cable television shows, PSAs, concerts, and corporate videos. She also produces the Serenity Moments© brand of scenic relaxation videos which are used by hospitals, clinics and military bases to help patients recover from surgery, illness or traumatic injury. |
